Waking Up
So it all started with Indaba Music...

I had been doing the office jamming thing (see the office rig at left) for quite some time, mostly writing and recording my own tunes. Indaba gave me my first glimpse into an internet community of musicians, all potential collaborators.

After some time, I came across this guitar track (accompanied by some really basic/cheesy drums) that really caught my ear. It was written by Reese Burns and what inspired me even more was the fact that a vocalist (going by the name C.T.) was actively involved. Here's the original track:

At this point, I was using a setup that consisted of my trusty Peavey Century head played through a Kustom 15" cabinet. I was using an Electroharmonix Big Muff in front of it and then mic'ed the cabinet with an SM-57 and an MXL 990 condenser, both mixed through my Behringer Xenyx mixer.

I had been using Fruity Loops for years and had recently discovered the wonders of Addictive Drums. So I got to work on programming the drums, tweaking the arrangement, and recording guitar.

So, to make a long story short, I finished all the drums, guitar, and mixed in the vocal/piano tracks provided by C.T. in early 2010. It wasn't until 3 years later that I got around to recording bass for the song and called it done.
